Furniture showroom planned for a historic town hotel

A FURNITURE company is hoping to rescue a deteriorating hotel by turning it into an appointment-only showroom with overnight stays.

Vintage Sofa Co has applied to transform Abbots Oak in Warren Hills Road, Coalville.

The grade II-listed building, which dates back to the mid-19th century, closed as a boutique hotel in early 2022.

Planning documents submitted to North West Leicestershire District Council reveal it has been on the market continuously since then, with any interest from potential buyers falling through.
