Enthusiastic start to club's centenary year

MELTON Mowbray Golf Club's centenary year celebrations got off to an enthusiastic start with a flag-raising ceremony by the club captains Phil Curtis and Jackie Fisher.

Phil said: "There was a party for members, 60 took part in a nine-holes flag competition and we had a very special birthday cake.
"These celebrations marked three years' hard work by the organising centenary committee and there are a lot more events to come during this special year.
