RESIDENTS RAISE CONCERNS ABOUT PROPOSAL FOR THE EDGE OF OXTED
RESIDENTS have sounded the alarm over the pressure up to 190 new homes could have on their town.
Plans have been put forward to build a new neighbourhood and care home on Surrey green belt land on the edge of Oxted. While some welcomed bringing new homes to the area, others expressed anger at the loss of green space and the types of housing promised.
Developers Croudace Homes Ltd hope to transform the 9.7 hectare site on Barrow Green Road into a new neighbourhood for families and the elderly.
However, people on SurreyLive's Facebook page have criticised the plans, demanding developers "leave our open spaces and green belt alone".
Commenters proclaimed that: "What makes these islands special is the amount of beautiful nature there is." Others were concerned new houses would "ruin" the countryside and push out the wildlife.
