Developer seeks more homes at Headley Court to make scheme pay

PLANS to convert a Mole Valley mansion and grounds to a retirement village are “no longer viable”, according to the developer that has already started work.

A fresh application to build 27 more homes on land which had been intended as gardens at Headley Court has been submitted to Mole Valley District Council in a bid to make the scheme float.

A planning application to convert the Grade II-listed mansion and build a number of blocks on the grounds, creating a 112-home retirement village, was approved in February 2023. But Audley Group now says rising costs mean the project is not viable. It says it “remains committed to the site” and wants to claw back value by hiking the number of homes.
