Veterans greeted by huge crowds for VE celebration

Five forces veterans from Lancashire, with ages totalling 503, were greeted by massive crowds as they were flown by BAE Systems to take part in celebrations to mark the end of the Second World War.
The event in Wageningen in Holland formed part of VE Day commemorations across Europe and attracted an attendance estimated at 100,000.
Wageningen was the site of the surrender of German forces on May 5, 1945, officially ending the war in the Netherlands.
In the winter of 1944-45, the Dutch population was suffering from huge food shortages.
