Riding a Mexican wave that's silly, stylised and worth a watch

|Lancashire Evening Post
Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue is one of those shows that comes from the same school of literalism that gave us the barmy Snakes on a Plane.
-

This show, however, doesn’t have a plot sourced from the online community like that film was - it comes with what should be a somewhat higher class of pedigree.
It is the brainchild of bestselling author Anthony Horowitz, creator of the teenage super-spy Alex Rider, and the writer handpicked by the estates of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Ian Fleming to pick up the mantles of Sherlock Holmes and James Bond, respectively, in print.
The programme opens with a couple parking up on the edge of a desert to overlook an isolated military base in Los Trios, Mexico.
It's in this base that the nine titular bodies are being held in the morgue. They've been recovered from the site of an air crash.
But the rescue team found 10 passports — so what happened? And who’s missing?
Unfortunately, the bodies are in such a state, that IDing them is proving... problematic.
But who are these two people watching the base, and what’s their connection to it all?
That opening scene is announced with a title screen as “Day Nine” before the action backtracks to day one - the day of the crash.
A small jet is going down over the jungle, with pilot Octavio attempting to make a mayday call as they go down.
