New look for sloping block of apartments planned for city

Unfulfilled plans to build a distinctive 'sloped' apartment block in Preston city centre have been resurrected and revised-more than five years after they were first given the green light.

The blueprint for what was to have been a 21-storey property, on Church Row, close to the city's bus station, was approved by Preston City Council in May 2020-just two months after the onset of the Covid pandemic.

The strikingly-designed building was intended to spring up in place of a row of derelict retail units that had been empty since 2007 - and would have contained 80 apartments and space for new shops on the ground floor.
