It's double joy for Harriers in tough Caldervale event

Good Friday saw 154 athletes tackling the deceptively tough Caldervale 10-mile road race, in what turned out to be a triumph for Preston Harriers' men and ladies.
The race fools you into thinking it's easy with a fast two-mile downhill start but then starts a five-mile continuous climb with the remaining miles being undulating, providing a stiff test for the 16 Preston Harriers' athletes taking part.
First home for Preston in the men's race was Chris McCarthy, sixth overall in a time of 1:06:21, followed closely by David Lea, first V60, in 1:07:01 and Brian Evans, second V40 in 1:07:09.
