Rent in Preston rose by nine per cent over the past year, new figures show.

Provisional figures from the Office for National Statistics show the average private rent in Preston reached £742 per month in the year to July-up 9% from £679 a year prior. It was also up 29% from an estimated £574 a month five years ago.
