Family to bid a fond farewell to top country hotel

A popular country hotel which has been run by the same family for more than four decades has been sold.

Janet Simpson and her mother Maggie welcomed their first guests to the Gibbon Bridge Hotel in November 1982, when it had just six bedrooms and a restaurant.
The pair invited TV personality Russell Harty to conduct the official opening, and it has since hosted a number of famous guests including King Charles and Dame Shirley Bassey.
