End of an era for town theatre group going out with a bang

St Annes Parish Operatic Society is staging its last ever production, Calendar Girls - The Musical, at the Lowther Pavilion Theatre from September 3-6.
The musical, written by Gary Barlow of Take That, was staged by them three years ago and was a huge success, so the 'girls' are back by special demand for this memorable farewell.
The society was formed in 1970, debuting with Oliver! performed at St Annes Pier Pavilion which burnt down in 1972.
The society moved to Ashton Theatre for Charlie Girl, but ironically this theatre also burnt down in 1976. Since then, performances have been at the Lowther Pavilion.
