Dad legally changes middle name to 'Rubber Duck' after friend's dare
July 22, 2025
|Lancashire Evening Post
A dad will legally change his middle name to 'Rubber Duck' after his best friend dared him to.
Daniel Caldwell, 32, was challenged by 'lifelong friend' Curtis Lunt, 34, to change his name if their charity fundraiser raised more than £3,000.
Last year the pals raised £2,100 for their local children's hospice, Derian House by running a duck race and Daniel dared Curtis to get a tattoo of a rubber duck on his leg if they raised over £1,500.
This year it was Curtis' turn to come up with the dare and after raising £3,100 for the charity Daniel has no choice but to fulfil his friend's wish.
Daniel, a chef, from Ribchester, said: "I just joked about the dares for a couple of years and then obviously last year he [Curtis] had to get the tattoo.
"So I knew something was coming and our relationship is that strong and funny. I knew something big was coming like that."
