This timely six-part drama, which is based on a true story, proves the point. In 1996, then-world chess champion Garry Kasparov was challenged by IBM to take on its supercomputer Deep Blue in Philadelphia; the computer won. A year later, a rematch took place in New York, which Deep Blue also won, marking the first time a reigning champion had been beaten by a computer under tournament conditions. The drama focuses on the latter game, ramping up the tension as man attempted to prove it was still smarter than its creation. Christian Cooke plays Kasparov; Aidan Quinn, Sarah Bolger and Trine Dyrholm co-star.
