When Nothing Feels Enough

Kashmiri youth are scrolling through curated lives and sinking into self-comparison, chasing a happiness that feels out of reach

- Zuha Ashai

No matter where you are, what you do, or who you're with sometimes, nothing feels enough.

You wait for something to happen. Something big. Or at least something that makes sense of it all.

And while you wait, the storm rolls in: anger, frustration, depression, anxiety. A weight pressing down. Shadows trailing behind a mind that's tired of pretending everything's fine.

No one tells us this, but it's true: just looking at someone else's life—scrolling past it, hearing about it, standing next to it—can quietly make you feel like you're falling behind. Because comparison doesn’t knock. It just walks in. It makes itself comfortable.

And in that uneasy space, the questions begin to echo: “Am I doing what I truly want? Or just what I think I should do?”

That small difference means everything. Recognising it is wisdom. But wisdom doesn't arrive with age, it arrives when we meet ourselves.
