PRAYERS FOR TRAGIC RIVER VICTIM FREYA, 12

A PRAYER service was held yesterday for a 12-year-old girl who died after getting into swimming difficulties.

The youngster, who has been named locally as Freya Tobin, was bathing at a swimming spot on the River Suir around 4.20pm on Friday.

The tragedy took place in the village of Newcastle, located close Ardfinnan along the Tipperary/Waterford border.

The former sixth class student at Scoil Mhuire Caislean Nua National School had been with a number of others on the Suir Blueway.

It is understood Freya was with another friend, and both got into difficulty around the same time.
