Revellers around the globe enjoy music and fireworks after tough times
ALMOST 40,000 people lined the quays in Dublin to usher in 2023 and bid farewell to a turbulent 12 months marked by war and inflation.
Sydney was among the first major cities to ring in the New Year with a fireworks display after two years of lockdowns and festivities muted by the coronavirus pandemic. Throngs of revellers gathered along the city’s harbour to watch a 12-minute display of 100,000 pyrotechnics light up the sky as Australia’s borders reopened.
New Zealand officially became the first nation to celebrate at 11am GMT along with Tonga and Samoa.

KEEP IT COSY
For everyday cosiness that's colourful and comfortable, look no further than Salts Cashmere. The brand works with a family-run Mongolian mill to produce softer knits with a smaller footprint. You'll find unisex styles, relaxed fits and designs inspired by Yorkshire artist David Hockney's love of contrasting colours. Choose from knitted tank tops, crew-neck sweaters and slouchy cardigans, all of which are versatile and made to last.
