DOWN boss Conor Laverty is pinning his hopes on the Mournemen doing yet another impression of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde this summer.

For no other county shifts from bad to good so dramatically or effectively as the five-times All-Ireland champs.

Remember they had never even won an Ulster championship in the first 60 years of the competition and then went and won eight in 12 years as well as three All-Irelands and three National Leagues.

Hibernation returned - no All-Ireland final appearance between 1968 and 1991, not even the hint of one.

And then once again they came from nowhere to bundle Sam Maguire across the border twice in the ‘90s-in 1991 and 1994.
