Family member says warning signs ignored by agency

- BY PAUL HEALY

MURDERED child Oisin Reddin was “failed” by Tusla, a devastated family member said yesterday.

The 12-year-old, who had just started in Scoil Talbot Senior National School in Bawnogue, was found dead in a house in Lindisfarne Grove, Clondalkin, West Dublin on Thursday.

His remains were found after gardai discovered the body of his father Wayne O'Reilly (48) at a property in Cherry Orchard, Ballyfermot at around 8.30am.

Officers believe O'Reilly killed Oisin by asphyxiation before taking his own life.

Speaking to this paper, one of Oisin's relatives claimed Tusla, the Child and Family Agency, failed the little boy.

They added: “They both went missing before and that should've been a red flag.”

The family member said there is much anger that mechanic O'Reilly had been suffering from mental health difficulties and that Tusla - which had been engaged with the family, had not been more involved.

We can also reveal that gardai had a number of interactions with him in relation to domestic issues in 2024 and 2025 — before he and his briefly went missing in October of last year.

This paper also learned the An Ghníomhaireacht um Leanaí agus an Teaghlach Child and Family Agency CLAIMS Tusla was aware of Oisin Reddin suspected killer was due in court in March to face a minor drugs charge.

The family member, who asked not to be named, said it appeared in recent times as though O'Reilly had distanced himself from his own child.

RELATIONSHIP

He added: “He met another girl and had a baby with her and it was a new relationship. I feel he wanted to push Oisin away.”
