'Top criminal' is cleared of obstruction

A MAN described in a court as one of the 'top criminals in Ireland' was warned by a judge 'not to be rude' to gardai by telling them to 'f**k off' after he successfully defended himself on an obstruction charge.

Jonathan Gill, 43-who was a former target for the Criminal Assets Bureau and was acquitted of tiger kidnapping charges - appeared before Judge Stephanie Coggins at Swords District Court, sitting in Balbriggan, where he represented himself.

Gill successfully argued in his case there was CCTV in an underground hotel car park where it is alleged he obstructed Garda Kieran McQuaid.
