IAN Terence Botham was born in Heswall, Wirral, UK, on November 24, 1955.
On July 13, 1974, Botham scored his maiden half-century in first-class cricket, scoring 59 for Somerset against Middlesex at Taunton.
He made his Test debut against Australia on July 28, 1977. He took 5 for 74 and 0 for 60, scoring 25 as England won by 7 wickets.
