Stunning shots show thriving Dodder critters

THESE stunning images from a city river showcase the wildlife that exists on our doorsteps.

A fox tends to her cub in their den, a mute swan takes to the water, an otter makes an unusual daytime appearance and a kingfisher is perched for a dive.

They're all captured by photographer Robert O'Leary, who spent a year on the River Dodder in Dublin for his book Wild Waterways.

Stretching nearly 30km from the Wicklow mountains to the Grand Canal Dock, the River Dodder offers an escape into nature from the capital.
