Police question two cons over Watkins cell attack
PAEDOPHILE Ian Watkins was killed in prison because he refused to pay protection money, it has been claimed.
The former lead singer of the Welsh rock band Lostprophets, 48, is said to have had his throat cut.
He was found severely injured in his cell at HMP Wakefield in the UK just after 9am on Saturday. Staff could do nothing to save him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives were yesterday questioning two prisoners, aged 43 and 25, about his death.
A source said: "It looks like there was no prior beef between them, there was no prior knowledge between them, it was because he was who he was or would not pay any cash up.
"It happened just after unlock, they have walked into his cell and he has been killed."
