NASA pair finally splash down back to earth

NASA'S two stranded astronauts finally made it back to Earth after their week-long mission turned into a nine-month stay in space.

Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams splashed down off the coast of Florida around 10pm last night. The pair had bid farewell to their comrades and departed on board a SpaceX capsule alongside two other astronauts.

They were left stuck on the International Space Station following a bungled Boeing test flight last June.

The rescue ride home undocked on Monday.
