Noreen, 81, killed by person known to her

Feared that personal grudge was behind fatal attack on OAP May have been dead for some time as locals hail a 'lovely lady'

THIS is the popular elderly woman who gardai suspect may have been murdered in her own home.

A photograph has emerged of Noreen Daly, 81, whom gardai believe died in violent circumstances at her home in Ardsallagh, near Ardmore in Co Waterford.

Her remains were discovered on Monday afternoon after a gardener attended the house, it is understood. Gardai fear she may have been dead for some time - and that a man known to her is responsible for her death.

It is suspected she may have been violently attacked in her home over a 'personal grudge'.

Locals said Ms Daly was a very active woman involved in a tai chi club, the Youghal Active Retirement Association, choir groups and other activities within the area.

She and her husband Michael lived in the Monkstown area of Dublin for years, and she recently moved permanently to the Ardsallagh area, where she had a second home.

Her husband died in 2023 and she had just sold the Dublin home in recent months, locals said. She lived alone but had many friends and close ones who would call in to her.
