OH JIM.WHAT HAVE YOU GONE & DONE!

- patdolan

WHEN life becomes so terribly complicated, common sense can go out of the window.

Welcome to Manchester United.

They had a proven and talented young manager in Ruben Amorim, halfway through his first full season in the Old Trafford madhouse.

They were fifth in the table, on course for Champions League qualification, and they gave him €15million and sacked him.

To Big Jim Ratcliffe, that’s football business as usual. What's €15million when you have a personal fortune of €20billion?

Remember, Big Jim extended Erik ten Hag’s contract and then paid him €15million too when he sacked him a few months later.

Ratcliffe could have given Amorim another transfer and some real support, which any United boss badly needs, but Big Jim kicked him out.

Common sense would suggest that after such drastic action he must have a clear plan and some world class personnel to bring in to save United's season.

No chance. So he promoted Under-18s head coach Darren Fletcher as interim manager, then interviewed Ole Gunnar Solskjær and Michael Carrick to be the ‘proper’ interim boss.

Common sense? You couldn't make it up. Big plan? No plan. Welcome to Manchester United under INEOS control.

Remember when Big Jim's mate and cycling expert Dave Brailsford was brought in to save United with his ‘marginal gains’ philosophy?

Dan Ashworth was brought in at a big cost when United bought him from Newcastle.

He had two decades of experience as a director of football and sporting director with West Brom, England, Brighton and Newcastle before he arrived. He lasted five months.

His brief spell at the club cost €5million. A million a month! Is that common sense?

His replacement was Jason Wilcox. Wonderful Wilcox is the same age as Dan Ashworth.
