Maguire hits dramatic extra-time winner as United's stars seal semi spot in dramatic style

JUST over five minutes into the second half of what had been, up to that point, Manchester United's best performance of the season, Bruno Fernandes tried to send Rasmus Hojlund clear.

Nothing unusual there. Only he tried with a rabona pass.

Since when have Fernandes and Manchester United felt entitled to start showboating? A long time ago.

What followed showed you why they really are not entitled to showboat and Lyon took the game into 30 extra minutes and then looked certain to win it with goals from Rayan Cherki and Alexandre Lacazette.

But what followed then made it one of THE great European nights at Old Trafford.

Inside ten minutes, a penalty from Fernandes, a stunning strike from Kobbie Mainoo and a header from Harry Maguire gave United a truly remarkable win and a place in the Europa League semi-finals.

What promised to be the best performance of Ruben Amorim's (left) reign looked like becoming the worst before becoming the best again.
