THE ESB has warned presidential candidates and their teams that erecting posters on electricity poles is strictly prohibited as it could cause serious harm.

Attaching posters to electricity poles has caused fires and dangerous situations in the past, the network said.

Aras hopefuls kicked off their campaigns across the country this week as voters take to the polls on October 24.

It's a three-way race between Independent Catherine Connolly, Fianna Fail's Jim Gavin and Fine Gael’s Heather Humphreys.
