Social media scam probe after fans contact gardai

AN "INFLUENCER" is under a Garda investigation for allegedly scamming dozens of people into purchasing fake Electric Picnic tickets.

The young woman is alleged to have coerced potentially hundreds of people to fork over money for the Stradbally festival in a sophisticated social media scam.

Victims first came forward online to claim they had been scammed by the woman - who had used her own platform to claim she was selling two tickets to the sold-out festival.

Now several have gone to the gardai and have made formal statements.
