New set of internet slang words added

THE internet has not only revolutionised communications, it is literally changing the language we speak.

This week another raft of words that never existed until popularised online have entered the official lexicon.

Skibidi, tradwife, delulu and other slang terms popularised by social media are among 6,000 new words added to the Cambridge Dictionary this year.

Slang term skibidi, a jibberish word, joined the world's largest online dictionary in the past 12 months.

Defined in the dictionary as “a word that can have different meanings such as ‘cool’ or ‘bad’, or can be used with no real meaning as a joke', an example of its use is: “What the skibidi are you doing?”
