Tolerance of fans an important skill

TRASH talking fans showcase the worst of sportsmanship.

The supporters of Team USA at the Ryder Cup gave dog's abuse to their rivals, particularly our own Rory Mcllroy and Shane Lowry, last weekend.

The insults came thick and fast.

The profanity was loud and clear.

And it wasn't limited to the players, with the golfer’s partners also targeted by US supporters.

Mellroy’s wife Erica Stoll, who is herself a New Yorker, was hit with a drink and she, along with Lowry’s wife Wendy, contemplated leaving matches such was the level of abuse.
