IT'S no secret that Australian-American actress Nicole Kidman tends to jump head-first into new roles.

All Holl' breaks loose

They are often satirical, sometimes elegant and even emotionally raw.

But before screenwriter Andrew Sodroski's script for his new American mystery thriller film, Holland, came along, Nicole, 57, and her producing partner Per Saari, who she founded the production company Blossom Films with in 2010, were looking for something different to work on.

"I would describe the story as dark, funny, [and] suspenseful, but also thrilling and romantic and relatable and empowering. And that is the brilliance of Andrew's writing," says Kidman.

"Andrew wrote a story that has an initial twist that cranks up the tension and intrigue. And then those twists and turns just keep coming."

"Nicole and I had been looking for a thriller, something in the Hitchcock zone, when Andrew's script came our way," says Saari.
