Funeral for youngest Bondi massacre victim

GRIEVING relatives of Matilda, the youngest Bondi massacre victim, urged people to resist anger as they laid her to rest.

The funeral of the 10-year-old, who was one of 15 people killed, was held on the same day as a service for its oldest victim, an 87-year-old Holocaust survivor.

Her parents, Michael and Valentyna, named their daughter after the Australian song Waltzing Matilda, in tribute to the country where their Ukrainian family found safety.

New South Wales Premier Chris Minns read a poem in tribute to her and said: "She's waltzing with the angels."
