Horror incident is probed by gardai after officer injured

A GARDA was due to undergo surgery after suffering serious leg injuries when a van was deliberately driven at him.

The horrific incident unfolded in Ardee, Co Louth, yesterday morning while gardai were on patrol in the Clonmore Estate area.

Gardai in a patrol car approached the van that was parked up in the estate.

When a male garda got out of the patrol car to investigate, the van was then deliberately driven at him.
