Two in court over protest 'disorder'

Pair linked to Portadown riot Both have bail bids refused

TWO more people have appeared in court in relation to charges linked to street disorder.

The man and woman have been accused of taking part in unrest on Wednesday evening.

Martynas Girkis, 28, appeared at Craigavon Magistrates Court by sightlink from Maghaberry prison.

He was charged with failing to remove a disguise when requested, obstructing and resisting police.

A PSNI officer told the court that on Wednesday, the defendant was with a crowd of masked men in the centre of Portadown, Co Armagh.

The group of men were told by police to remove their masks and when Girkis allegedly refused, he was arrested for obstruction.
