STUNNING SHOW OF NORTHERN DELIGHTS

IRELAND was treated to a blazing sky of red and green lights for the second night in a row last night, as the Aurora Borealis made its presence felt.

The phenomenon has made a spectacle in our skies quite frequently over the past year or two, with the solar cycle dictating how strong and how often we can see them.

Usually, Ireland would be too far south to witness the astronomical event, but as we are at an active peak in the cycle, they can be seen.

It feels like we are able to view this heavenly delight more than ever before, and Cathal Nolan of Ireland's Weather Channel has given a brilliant breakdown of why - adding that by the end of 2026, they may not be seen frequently here again until the next cyclical peak.

The next wave of solar activity is not expected until 2031 and there is no guarantee that it will be as active.
