MCLAREN are no strangers to glory - but not so long ago one of Formula One's grand old teams was at its lowest ebb.

Having won just one title in six seasons, Lewis Hamilton predicted at the end of 2012 that a more successful future lay with Mercedes.

He was right, and a low point came in 2015 when Fernando Alonso likened their Honda power units to a “GP2 engine”.
