State faces hefty Covid compo bill

THE State is facing a multi-million-euro Covid-19 compensation bill involving legal cases against the HSE for wrongful deaths during the pandemic.
So far, 78 wrongful death claims have been issued against the HSE and are being dealt with by the State Claims Agency, which deals with all legal actions against Government owned institutions.
Details of the impending legal actions were revealed by Health Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill following a parliamentary question from the Aontu leader Peadar Toibin.
