World's largest Irish pub opens in Dubai.. but a pint will cost you €15

- BY KEITH FALKINER

THE largest Irish bar in the world has just opened its doors, with an area half the size of a football pitch, 148 beer taps and a pint of Guinness costing nearly 15 quid!

McCafferty's in Dubai is hardly your typical, cosy Irish local.

In fact on opening day on Monday it went straight into the official Guinness Book of Records as the biggest Irish pub on the planet.

Located in Jumeirah Village Circle in the tiny emirate, it hopes to become home from home for thousands of expats and tourists.

A pint of St James's Gate's finest stout goes for just under €15, while a whiskey chaser would set you back another €13.

Guinness World Record adjudicator Emma Brain was at the opening to officially recognise this behemoth of a bar, which boasts amongst its attractions a "Guinness garden".

The owners run a chain of McCafferty's Irish bars in Ireland and abroad.
