GALOPIN Des Champs should join steeplechasing’s elite by landing a third Boodles Cheltenham Gold Cup.

The Willie Mullins-trained nine-year-old, a 10-time Grade 1 winner, is bidding to become only the fifth horse to win the great race for a third time - Cottage Rake, Arkle and Best Mate have won it three times while the legendary Golden Miller won it on five occasions in the 1930's.

Rated 177, Audrey Turley’s gelding is a minimum of 9lb above his rivals on official figures and has looked as good as ever, if not better, in two recent victories at Leopardstown.
