DONALD Trump wants to use US cities as military training grounds as he joined his defence secretary Pete Hegseth to say there are too many fat generals.

Mr Hegseth announced new directives for troops that include “gender-neutral” or “male-level” standards for physical fitness.

Hundreds of generals were summoned at short notice for the US President's speech in Quantico, near Washington, with many being forced to travel from conflict zones across the world.

They heard “Secretary of War” Hegseth claim there were too many “fat” generals and admirals - ordering all of them to pass physical training and height and weight standards every year of service.
