Police service staff overpaid by €3.6million

OVERPAYMENTS Garda and civillian staff paid too much

NEARLY €3.6m in overpayments was made to gardai or civilian members of the police force over the past two and a half years.

An Garda said payments totalling €2.7m were incorrectly made to over 1,450 officers since the start of 2023.

Of that total, around €1.32m has so far been recouped from officers, according to data that was released under Freedom of Information laws.

A further €877,037 in overpayments was made to 555 civilian members of An Garda during the same period.
