Monk tight-lipped on whether he'll run for Dublin Central seat

GERRY “The Monk” Hutch is remaining tight-lipped on whether he will run in the Dublin Central by-election but declared he is “grateful for all the support”.

The veteran crime boss narrowly lost out on a seat in last November's general election to Labour's Marie Sherlock.

But ever since Tuesday, when Fine Gael's Paschal Donohoe announced he was resigning, speculation has been rife that the Monk could reemerge as a candidate in the by-election.

On his official Instagram account, which was used during the election campaign last year, Hutch said: "I've been spending a lot of time lately listening, learning and connecting with people across our community. I'm grateful for all the support and encouragement along the way."
