Derry bang in title mix & are breathing down Rovers' neck

SECOND HALF goals from Jamie McGonigle and Michael Duffy put the seal on an emphatic victory over Drogheda that tees Derry City up perfectly for Thursday's Europa Conference League second leg tie against Tobol.

The Candystripes were dominant throughout and led at the break thanks to Jordan McEneff's opener - but it took until the 83rd minute before the Brandywell could breathe easier about a victory that takes City up to third, five points behind leaders Shamrock Rovers but crucially with a game in hand.

Ruaidhri Higgins (right) lined up with Danny Mullen the focal point of what looked like an attacking formation but it was Drogheda who should have hit the front on 11 minutes.
