Dublin Airport back to normal after air traffic glitch grounds flights

- NICOLA DONNELLY

Departure great

DUBLIN Airport returned to its full schedule yesterday following the UK air traffic control meltdown.

The glitch caused thousands of flight cancellations and delays earlier this week here and in the UK leaving many passengers stranded for more than 12 hours at the hub.

Graeme McQueen, a spokesman for DAA, which operates Dublin Airport, reported “a busy but normal day of operations”.

He said: “Wednesday morning saw a full schedule of arrivals and departures.

“As always, passengers seeking updates about specific flights should contact their airline directly.”

An Aer Lingus spokesman said: “We are pleased to confirm our operation has returned to normal.

“While the majority of customers affected by Monday’s disruption have been re-accommodated, due to the mass disruption across the industry our teams are doing everything possible to re-book the small number of customers who still require assistance as efficiently as possible.” A spokesperson for Ryanair told us: “We are back operating as normal.”
