TD's plea for calm as hornet found in parliament

A EUROPEAN hornet was discovered in Leinster House, a TD revealed yesterday.

Independent Barry Heneghan, who is also a beekeeper, urged the public to remain calm.

The Dublin Bay North deputy said: “I was informed today of the discovery of a European hornet in Leinster House.

“As a beekeeper, I know these sightings can cause concern.

“But it’s important people don't confuse European hornets with the invasive Asian hornet being monitored across Ireland.
