STRIKER PARROTT HAS CLICKED BUT IT WASN'T ALWAYS THAT WAY

- BY MARK McCADDEN

STEPHEN CARR insists Tottenham did NOT make a mistake in selling Troy Parrott to AZ Alkmaar for €8million.

Parrott’s exploits for club and country have led to Spurs fans questioning on social media the wisdom of letting the 23-year-old go in July of last year.

So far this season, the Dubliner has scored 19 goals for club and country, including 14 in 16 club appearances.

His tally is all the more impressive when you consider he spent seven months on the sidelines injured.

In his first season at AZ, Parrott netted 20 times in 47 appearances, while during a loan spell at Eredivisie rivals Excelsior in the 2023/24 season he scored 17 times.

That was the catalyst for Alkmaar to launch a bid to take him on a permanent transfer - and according to former Spurs and Ireland star Carr, they were right to cash in when they did.
