Bar raised as funding confirmed

A TARGET of eight to 10 Irish medals at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles has been set after the Government has announced funding of high performance sport for 2025.

The details were confirmed yesterday, showing an increase in the money distributed through Sport Ireland from €25million last year to €27million.

Ireland brought home seven medals from the Paris Olympics last year and the majority of those medal winners have been awarded 'Podium' funding of €40,000 a year, given to those athletes considered genuine medal hopes.
