Wife's tribute as Fair City star Heap dies at 76

THE wife of Fair City actor David Heap has announced he died aged 76 earlier this week.

David, who played Donal Maher in the RTE soap, was diagnosed with Corticobasal Syndrome last year.

In an emotional tribute, Olwen Fouere, who is also an actor, wrote: "Farewell to my beloved David Richard Heap, who died in my arms at home today December 30.

"Born in Gloucestershire on May 21, 1949, he moved to Ireland after playing the original Captain Lancet in the world premiere of Translations by Brian Friel in 1980, the first production from Field Day theatre company created by Stephen Rea and Brian Friel.
