A cadaver dog is key for policing

GARDA chief Drew Harris has claimed a cadaver dog is a rarely-used resource and has only been employed three times during his seven-year tenure.

However, as gardai investigate more cold cases, it is a clear such an animal will be required more in the future.

The justice minister has already said the dog, borrowed from the PSNI, should have been used in the Tina Satchwell case when it was still a missing person inquiry.
