FIT-AGAIN BACK-ROWER REFLECTS ON WIN AT WIGAN AND INJURY BATTLE

- By DAN TOMLINSON

Victory has done us the world of confidence, says FC star Cartwright

Confidence is infectious. It generates momentum, belief, and general positivity.

For a rugby league player, it's everything, and right now, it's brimming through Hull FC's back row star Jed Cartwright. And so it should.

The 28-year-old has done the hard yards. He's been dealt his fair share of injury frustration, being out for four months of the season, but now he's back - and with a bang.

Lining up for the third game since his return and second start, Cartwright, who played 65 minutes, was on point. The back row forward ran strongly, coming up with two tries and continuously pouncing through the Wigan Warriors line. He was in his element - and it's all down to one key thing: time.

Speaking to the Mail, Cartwright, who builds his game on defence, said: "It just felt a little bit different. I felt my timing was back. I felt just a lot more comfortable with the ball coming towards me.

"That comes with time on the field. Football is a massive confidence game, and that game has given me confidence. I'm really excited for the coming weeks.
